Job role / duties
Farm Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the egg laying farm, including feed management, flock health monitoring, and ensuring optimal living conditions for the hens.
Egg Production Optimization: Implement strategies to maximize egg production, quality, and consistency, while adhering to industry best practices.
Animal Welfare: Ensure the well-being of the laying hens through regular health checks, disease prevention measures, and the provision of a safe and comfortable environment.
Staff Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of farm workers, providing guidance, training, and support to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Record Keeping and Compliance: Maintain accurate records of flock performance, production data, and compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Facility Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm infrastructure, equipment, and machinery to ensure smooth operations.
Biosecurity and Health & Safety: Implement and enforce strict biosecurity measures and health & safety protocols to safeguard the flock and farm personnel.
To be considered for this role you MUST:
Farm Experience: Proven experience in working in commercial egg laying farms, with a track record of achieving production targets.
Animal Husbandry Expertise: Strong knowledge of poultry management, health, and welfare practices to ensure the well-being of the laying hens.
Leadership Abilities: Excellent leadership and team management skills to motivate and guide the farm workforce effectively.
Problem-Solving: Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and implement effective solutions to optimize egg production and farm efficiency.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage farm operations, scheduling, and record-keeping efficiently.
Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to liaise with team members, suppliers, and company management.
Qualifications: A relevant degree or diploma in agriculture or a related field is preferred but not essential if you have substantial experience in egg production management.
